A Buggy, Crashy, Poor Quality App

Crashes often. Many bugs. Has poor controls. And no fixes...

Very good but....

No more adds, or pro version. I already paid, now stop !

Apprendre le coran par el menchaoui

Simple and useful

Very simple (and nice) interface, it is very easy to find the books on LibriVox and start listening to them.

Once upon a time

The app was amazing... Until the last update which rendered it completely useless: app starts up and shuts down immediately. Always a pity when things used to work and then the paying customers are being angered, just to please the Scrooges with the new devices who never spend a dime on the content. Ah well, there are other audiobook apps out there and podcasts are also easily subscribed to. Just wish Apple had a money back guarantee for the case an update disqualifies an old device from using an app.

Mostly great audiobooks!!

I love audiobooks, though i am frequently annoyed when americans try to read german books or Spanish people read English books with an accent that makes it imossible to understand a word. The screening process could be better. Some of the narrators on the other hand do their job in a very professionsl way!!

Love it!!

Ive been looking for apps like this for a while now, and this one is the BEST!! $ well spent!!

Used to work

Worked before the update, now it doesnt play books in order.

Excellent app!

I use it all the time without any problems.

Amazing

Writing this from a low vision persons perspective - its useful helpful and simply wonderful

Works for me

Im now on my second book and the app works great. I only do one book at a time and (for Librivox) I definitely prefer one good reader per novel than different novel styles. I have listened to many samples. I dont understand the crits re selection; the selection is excellent and varied.

Excellent program

Worth the dollar

Angel of terror

Can no longer listen to this because of narrator. Please, if story is set in England, can we have a British accent instead of exaggerated "down south" American and one who can properly pronounce city names? Other books have, however, been most enjoyable.

Beatiful Joe

I loved the story of Beautiful Joe Very touching and meaningful I wont be forgetting that story for awhile I fell in love with the carectors in the story I would hope that more stories like this would come out instead of all violent stuff that we see now I like the fact that the people in beautiful Joe were Christians and caring about people around them I love the book I felt blessed.listening to it thanks

Amazing App

This has to be the best app I have. Tons and tons of free books, great readers, chapter selection and so much more. I didnt use to be a big reader so this app was perfect for me. It got me into some really good classics and encouraged me to read on my own. I probably sound like Im trying to sell this but I really just am just a happy customer.

Good app

Great selection and pretty good readers. I can listen while I travel.

Great app!

Love the fact that this has a sleep timer. I also really love that you can choose books by the narrator.

Live Stream Only????

....actually Im attempting to download some books at home using the paid version.... ...successfully downloaded one book at home using wi-fi. Then I tried downloading another one and the app froze and kicked me out. Its slow and buggy and NOT worth paying anything for.....buy the free version but I think you can ONLY live stream books with that one. Not recommended.

Excellent

Have had this app for years now; though I prefer to select and download offering at Librivox directly, and save them in iTune, it has been quite useful on long trips as to get fresh contents, and once during a brief unexpected hospital stay. Negative reviews based solely on content should be dismissed out of hand, since it is obvious these reviewers missed the point: AP gives access to open contents from many sources, but does no create this contents. Such criticism is akin to blaming Apple for offering a bad movie on iTune!. Not that contents is bad. Librivox, for instance, provides books read by volunteers - thus the quality can be uneven. But they also have many outstanding voice actors creating free audio books with quality on par with commercial offerings costing $10, 20 and more. Other free sources are similar. Look at Smokestack Jones reading H.P. Lovecraft on Librivox, for example, for some great quality material. Technically, this apps interface shows attention to details, is clean, uncluttered and straightforward. Aside from one buggy update which was promptly corrected, stability has been excellent, on all Touch models from 1G to 3GS. Finally, unlike many apps in this category this one does not impose any limits on the number of titles it can contain. Why pat for apps giving only a handful of preselected titles when you can have anything you want? I have never had any regret in spending my money here - but dont take my word for it, try the somewhat limited free version if you want to see if this fits your audiobook usage pattern.

Well worth it for me...

I really like this app. I find the quality of the libravox readings superior to that of commercial audiobooks now available such as from Audioables. Audioables books are "performed" with manic over-emotive narration and ridiculous dialog voicing while these libravox recordings are read in the calm traditional narrators style familiar from Books-on-Tape and Recordings-for-the-Blind. The interface is great and the selection of books is excellent. I have upgraded to "Plus" for the wider selection of books and the option to download the audio files but I still like that I can stream over wifi when I want to so as not to tie up memory on my old G2 iPod. My only criticism is that I wish I could choose from "options" to excluded and block "Pro" pay-per-book items from the "All" listing of books. I feel uncomfortable having the high-priced "Pro" in-app purchases so readily available on my mobile device. I also think it would be neat if a listing that included public domain and creative commons audio-dramas and audio-described-video movies from the Internet Archives or some such was added to the app.
